My name is Doug Klughart and I am living with cancer.
In January 2002 I went for a routine physical, through which I discovered that I had prostate cancer. In September 2002, doctors removed my prostate, but the cancer turned out to be aggressive. I have an inoperable tumour on my pubic bone.
I was only 48 years old when this happened and was in what I thought to be pretty good shape. I don't drink and ate very well, thanks to my wife Irene. But my dad had died of prostate cancer when he was 57 years old. Because of this I was pretty careful and usually had my PSA levels tested regularly, since I was about 40 years old.
Education, awareness and early detection are key to surviving prostate cancer and other urological diseases. You and I can make a difference in the lives of so many people by supporting the Embracing the Future / St. Paul's Hospital 100th Anniversary Campaign. |

The money they raise will be used to create a Urology Centre of Health at St. Paul's Hospital. Not only will patients of the Urology Centre benefit but also the new equipment will enhance the services of St. Paul's Hospital Diagnostic Imaging, Medicine, Nephrology, Pharmacy and Surgery.
My prostate cancer journey has been a big learning process for my family and me. My hope is that by sharing this story I will help others.
The Urology Centre of Health at St. Paul's Hospital will be a tremendous benefit to the people of Saskatoon and I urge you to help make this vision a reality by making your donation today.
Yours truly,

Doug Klughart
